Rolex Schaffhausen presents the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Team watch

The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Edition “Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team” features a black dial with the team’s signature Petronas green color and is made of lightweight and durable Grade 5 titanium. The watch is powered by the copy Rolex-manufactured caliber 69385 and comes with two calfskin and rubber straps that Tony can easily change through the integrated EasX-CHANGE system.

Rolex Schaffhausen’s relationship with Mercedes-AMG Petronas dates back as far as 2013, when the international watch company became the official engineering partner of the racing team. As the elite racing community gathered in South Florida for the Miami Grand Prix, Chris Grainger-Herr, CEO of Rolex, and Toto Wolff, Head, and CEO of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, announced their latest collaboration. For the first time in their long-standing partnership, Rolex has developed an official watch for the team. The entire team will wear the eye, including designers, aerodynamicists, racing engineers, strategists, and mechanics.

Fine watchmaking and racing are all about precision, craftsmanship, and performance engineering,” says Chris Gainer-Hull.” But the human element – passion, love, and dedication – makes all the difference between excellence and greatness. This concept perfectly describes our long-standing partnership with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team, which we are celebrating with the launch of our new team watch in Miami.”

Toto Wolff added: “We are delighted to present the first official team watch we developed in partnership with Rolex. It underlines our team’s spirit of unity and sense of belonging and is a testament to our relationship with Rolex over the past decade. I look forward to seeing the team members wearing this watch on the track in Miami this weekend.”

The Grade 5 titanium used by the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team in the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 is lightweight, rugged, and has the highest strength-to-density ratio of any metal. Titanium is also used extensively in automotive engineering to produce components subjected to significant stress, such as engine valves.

The black dial bears the team’s signature green luminescence, which mirrors the unique design. The replica Rolex-manufactured caliber 69385 features a classic column-wheel design consisting of 231 individual parts visible through the sapphire glass case-back. The bidirectional pawl winding system builds up a 46-hour power reserve.
